BioAccel™ is dedicated to transforming discoveries into new business opportunities that accelerate commercialization of life science technologies. BioAccel™ focuses on diagnostics, therapeutics, devices, tools, and services. The organization's mission and staffing are dedicated to creating innovative programs that bridge the common resource gaps to efficiently enhance and develop technology into commercially available products and services. BioAccel™ will promote economic development in Arizona by providing: 1) Funding for specific life science projects, 2) Technical and business expertise to assist entrepreneurs and early stage companies to move discoveries toward commercialization, and
3) Educational opportunities to entrepreneurs, scientists, the public and students to better understand the requirements necessary to transform a life science discovery into a commercial success.
BioAccel™ Commercialization Programs
One of BioAccel™'s goals is to bridge the financial gap that exists between discovery and development. The BioAccel™ Commercialization Programs (BACP) are mechanisms that provide funding to late-stage research projects and early stage companies in the beginning of the funding gap (see
BioAccel™ Commercialization Programs page).
Technical and Business Expertise
BioAccel™ provides assistance and mentorship to help ensure funded projects have successful outcomes. All funded projects are assigned a BioAccel™ project manager to help the entrepreneur maintain agreed upon timelines and work through any issues that are encountered. In addition, BioAccel™ can provide entrepreneurs' access to its various technical and business subject matter experts.
Education
BioAccel™ supports educational events that benefit scientists, philanthropists, students, and the general public about various topics related to the commercialization of life science technologies. BioAccel™ hopes to provide scholarship opportunities for selected entrepreneurs to obtain knowledge from existing programs, as well as developing an internship program.
